Warranty coverage

Two warranties, both in writing.

Every roof we install carries a manufacturer warranty on the materials and a written workmanship warranty from us on the installation. You get the paperwork at completion. You should not have to chase us for it.

Manufacturer warranty.

Atlas shingles carry a manufacturer warranty that covers material defects for an extended term, up to lifetime limited depending on the system. Because we are Atlas Pro Gold certified, our installations qualify for the longer-term warranty options Atlas offers through certified contractors.

Manufacturer warranties cover:

  • Manufacturing defects in the shingles themselves
  • Algae resistance, where applicable, for the term listed
  • Wind resistance ratings up to the limits stamped on the product
  • Material replacement if a defect is confirmed

Specific coverage depends on the Atlas product line installed on your roof. We list the exact warranty on your contract before any work begins.

Workmanship warranty.

Our written workmanship warranty covers the installation: nails in the wrong place, flashing not sealed correctly, ridge caps installed wrong, anything that comes back as a problem because of how we put the roof on. Different from material defects, which fall under the manufacturer warranty.

Workmanship coverage includes:

  • Installation defects on the shingles, underlayment, flashing, and ridge
  • Penetrations and seals around vents, pipes, and chimneys
  • Touch-up and repair if an installation issue causes a leak
  • Free re-inspection if you ever suspect an issue

Exact term length depends on the system. Atlas Pro Gold installs may include longer manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage. We spell it out on your contract.

Transferring the warranty.

Most Atlas manufacturer warranties are transferable one time to a new owner within a set window after installation. Our workmanship warranty terms transfer per the contract. If you sell the house, bring the warranty paperwork to your closing. It is a real value-add when buyers see a recent, transferable roof warranty.

What warranties do not cover.

Roofing warranties, ours and the manufacturer's, do not cover:

  • Acts of God: hurricane wind beyond rated thresholds, falling trees, lightning
  • Damage from foot traffic, satellite dish installs, or other contractors working on your roof
  • Pre-existing structural issues with the decking or framing
  • Improper attic ventilation that causes premature shingle failure

Most of those are covered by your homeowner's insurance, not the roofing warranty. We are happy to help you understand the difference when we walk your roof.

Common questions

Warranty and materials FAQs.

What warranty comes with a new roof?
Atlas shingles carry a manufacturer warranty up to lifetime limited depending on the system. We back our installation with a written workmanship warranty. Specifics depend on the materials you pick, and we list them on every contract.
How long is your workmanship warranty?
Our written workmanship warranty covers installation defects. The exact term depends on the system and the materials. Atlas Pro Gold systems carry a longer manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage than a standard install. We hand you the warranty paperwork at completion. You do not have to chase us for it.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
Yes, most Atlas manufacturer warranties are transferable one time to a new owner within a set window after installation. Our workmanship warranty terms are spelled out in your contract. Bring it to your closing.
Should I get architectural shingles or a metal roof?
Architectural shingles are the most common choice in Acadiana. They look great, hold up to our heat and humidity, and cost less up front. Metal roofs last 40 to 60 years, shed water faster, and qualify for some insurance discounts, but they cost 50 to 100 percent more. We help you pick based on how long you plan to own the home.
