Deck and patio cleaning in Acadiana.

A deck sits flat, holds water, and lives in the shade. That is a perfect setup for mildew in South Louisiana, and it is why a deck goes green faster than any wall on the house. Cleaning it right takes solution and patience, not a pressure wand on full trigger.

What we clean.

• Wood decks. Pressure treated pine, cedar, and cypress. Cleaned at low pressure so the soft grain stays put.
• Composite decking. Solution and a soft rinse. No scratching, no dulled boards.
• Covered patios and outdoor kitchens. Slab, ceiling, fans, beams, and the corners where wasps and webs collect.
• Railings, stairs, and lattice. Detailed by hand, since these are the parts people actually touch.
• Pergolas and screen rooms. Framing and screen cleaned at a pressure the screen can take.
• Patio furniture. If it is out there when we clean, we rinse it too rather than working around it.

Our process.

1. 1. Check the boards. Wood species, board condition, popped screws, soft spots, and whether there is old stain or sealer still on the surface. Composite gets checked for scratching and surface texture.
2. 2. Clear and cover. Furniture and planters get moved or wrapped, and the beds along the deck get pre-wet.
3. 3. Treat the growth. Solution goes on and does the work of killing the mildew and algae in the grain, including under the rail and along the joints where it always starts.
4. 4. Rinse with the grain. Low pressure, even passes, following the boards so no pass leaves a line across the deck.
5. 5. Reset and walk it. Furniture goes back, the yard gets flushed, and you look at it with us before we leave.

Why decks go green here first.

Flat surfaces hold water, and in Acadiana something is always dripping on them. Shade from the house and the tree line keeps boards damp long after the sun is out, and the gap between deck boards traps leaves and pine straw that stay wet for weeks. Mildew grows in that. So does the slick film that makes a deck genuinely dangerous barefoot after a rain.

There is a maintenance side too. Wood that stays covered in growth stays wet, and wet wood rots at the fasteners and along the joists first, where you cannot see it. Cleaning once a year, and re-staining when the water stops beading, is what gets fifteen years out of a deck instead of eight.
