The questions we hear, in plain English.

These are real questions from Acadiana homeowners, sorted by topic. No marketing fluff, no padded answers. If we tell you something here, it is the same thing we would tell you at your kitchen table.

General Roofing

General Roofing · 5 questions

Do you give free roof estimates?
Yes. Free roof estimates across Lafayette, Opelousas, Baton Rouge, and the rest of Acadiana. We come out, climb up, take photos, and walk you through what we see. No pressure, no sales pitch.
How long does a typical roof replacement take?
Most single-family asphalt shingle replacements wrap up in one day. Larger homes, metal roofs, or homes with multiple decking layers can run two or three days. We give you a written timeline before we start.
Are you licensed and insured in Louisiana?
Yes. We hold a Louisiana roofing contractor license and carry general liability plus workers' comp insurance. We provide proof of both before any job starts.
Do you pull permits?
When a job requires a permit from the parish or city, we pull it and handle the inspection. You should never be asked to pull your own roofing permit. If a contractor asks you to, that is a red flag.
What happens to the old shingles?
We haul them off the same day. Our crews use roofing magnets to sweep your driveway and yard for nails. We do not leave dumpsters behind for weeks. The yard looks better when we leave than when we arrived.
Pricing & Financing

Pricing & Financing · 4 questions

How much does a new roof cost in Louisiana?
Most asphalt shingle replacements on average-sized Acadiana homes land between $9,000 and $18,000 in 2026. Metal roofs and FORTIFIED systems run higher. Pitch, square footage, decking condition, and material grade all move the price. We give a fixed written quote, not a verbal estimate.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We work with financing partners that handle roofing projects across Louisiana. Approval is usually fast and runs through soft credit checks. Ask us about options when we quote your project.
Do I need perfect credit to get financing?
No. Our lending partners work with a range of credit profiles, including options for lower scores. The rate and term depend on your credit, the loan size, and the partner. We can walk you through what is available before you apply.
Do you require a down payment?
For insurance claim work, your insurance ACV check usually acts as the down payment. For cash jobs we typically collect a deposit when materials are ordered, with the balance due at completion. The exact split is on your written contract before any money changes hands.
Insurance Claims

Insurance Claims · 5 questions

Will you help with my insurance claim?
Yes. We document storm damage with photos, meet your adjuster on site, and translate the insurance scope into plain English. We do not act as a public adjuster, but we make sure nothing legitimate gets missed in the estimate.
Can you waive my deductible?
No. Waiving an insurance deductible is illegal in Louisiana and most other states. Any contractor offering to do this is committing fraud and putting your claim at risk. We do not work that way.
What if my insurance denies the claim?
We help you understand why. Sometimes the denial is correct because the damage is wear and tear, not storm-related. Sometimes it is wrong, and you can request a reinspection or bring in a public adjuster. We do not pressure you to file a claim if there is not real storm damage.
What is the difference between ACV and RCV on my policy?
ACV is actual cash value: the depreciated value of your roof, what it is worth today. RCV is replacement cost value: what it costs to replace it new. Most LA policies pay ACV up front and the depreciation only after the work is done. We handle the supplements with your insurer so you collect the full RCV.
What is a supplement on a roofing claim?
A supplement is when we ask the insurance company to add costs to the original estimate. This is normal. The adjuster cannot see every detail from the ground or in a 20-minute roof inspection. When we tear off the old roof and find code-required upgrades, rotten decking, or extra layers, we document it and submit a supplement.
Storm Damage

Storm Damage · 3 questions

What do I do right after a storm damages my roof?
Stay off the roof. Take photos from the ground of anything visibly wrong: missing shingles, debris, ceiling stains inside. Then call us. We can tarp exposed areas the same day in most cases and start the documentation your insurer will need.
Does emergency tarping cost extra?
We charge a fair flat rate for emergency tarping. If you go on to use us for the repair or replacement, we credit the tarping cost back. Insurance typically covers reasonable emergency mitigation costs as part of the claim.
How do I know if my damage is hail or wind?
Hail leaves round bruises and impact dents on shingles, often hidden from the ground. Wind damage shows up as lifted, creased, or missing shingles, especially on the side facing the storm. We climb the roof, document both types, and tell you what we find before we tell your insurance.
Materials & Warranties

Materials & Warranties · 4 questions

What warranty comes with a new roof?
Atlas shingles carry a manufacturer warranty up to lifetime limited depending on the system. We back our installation with a written workmanship warranty. Specifics depend on the materials you pick, and we list them on every contract.
How long is your workmanship warranty?
Our written workmanship warranty covers installation defects. The exact term depends on the system and the materials. Atlas Pro Gold systems carry a longer manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage than a standard install. We hand you the warranty paperwork at completion. You do not have to chase us for it.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
Yes, most Atlas manufacturer warranties are transferable one time to a new owner within a set window after installation. Our workmanship warranty terms are spelled out in your contract. Bring it to your closing.
Should I get architectural shingles or a metal roof?
Architectural shingles are the most common choice in Acadiana. They look great, hold up to our heat and humidity, and cost less up front. Metal roofs last 40 to 60 years, shed water faster, and qualify for some insurance discounts, but they cost 50 to 100 percent more. We help you pick based on how long you plan to own the home.
Service Areas

Service Areas · 2 questions

What areas do you serve?
Acadiana and South Louisiana. That includes Lafayette, Opelousas, Carencro, Youngsville, Broussard, Scott, New Iberia, and across to Baton Rouge. If you are close to one of our service cities, call us. We probably cover you.
Do you work on commercial properties out of state?
Our service area is Louisiana. We do not chase storm work across state lines. If you own a property in our service region, we are your contractor. If you own one outside it, we will refer you to a contractor we trust.
