Gutters are easy to ignore until a hard rain shows you where the water is going. We are on roofs every day, so gutter cleaning is a natural add for us, and we know what a failing system looks like before it turns into rotted fascia or water at the foundation.

What the job includes.

• Hand clearing the troughs. Leaves, pine straw, oak catkins, seed pods, and shingle grit come out and go in a bucket, not on your lawn or in your beds.
• Flushing every downspout. Water down each one until it runs clear at the bottom. A clogged elbow is the most common failure and the easiest one to miss from the ground.
• Flow testing the run. We watch the water move through the system so we can spot a bad slope or a low spot holding standing water.
• Checking hangers and seams. Loose spikes, pulled hangers, and separated seams get called out with photos, and simple ones we can fix on the spot.
• Roof-level check while we are up there. Debris in the valleys, pine straw behind the chimney, and anything on the shingles worth telling you about.
• Gutter face washing. Optional. The black tiger stripes on the front of the gutter need a real cleaner, and it is usually bundled with a house wash.

Our process.

1. 1. Walk the perimeter. We look at the downspout outlets, the ground under them, and the fascia for water stains before we go up. That tells us where the problems are.
2. 2. Clear by hand, top down. Debris comes out of the trough into a bucket, so nothing gets pushed into the downspout and nothing ends up in the beds.
3. 3. Flush and test. Every downspout gets water until it runs clear. If one will not clear, we open it and pull the blockage instead of leaving it for you to notice in the next storm.
4. 4. Check the hardware. Hangers, seams, end caps, drip edge, and downspout extensions. Anything loose gets tightened, anything failing gets photographed.
5. 5. Clean up and report. Ground gets rinsed, debris leaves with us, and you get a short rundown of what we found up there.

Why this matters more here.

We get heavy rain in short bursts. A five-inch afternoon is not unusual in Acadiana, and a clogged system cannot move that water. It goes over the front edge in a sheet, straight down the wall and into the ground at the foundation, which is exactly where you do not want it. That is how crawl spaces take on water and how corners settle.

The slower damage happens in the trough. Wet debris sitting against aluminum keeps the fascia board behind it damp all year, and in this humidity that board rots from the back side where nobody looks. Two cleanings a year is cheaper than one fascia replacement, and much cheaper than foundation work.
